La Cruz is a quaint fishermen's village, in the heart of
the town, in a very well decorated round about you will find the object
that gives it its name: A Cross made of Wood of the Huanacaxtle Tree.
The town's fiesta is May 3rd, the day of the holy cross, or Santa Cruz,
the patron of the construction workers. Every year and for 9 days La
Cruz church bells toll and the town gets full of life and people in
streets stands with games for grownups and children, a variety of food
and desserts, the skies rock with the firecrackers and the night of May
3rd a beautiful display of colorful fireworks illuminates the bay.
Every night the fishermen leave the small inlet to catch a wide
selection of the best seafood and fish, same ones that will be eaten
later in the finest and more exclusive restaurants of Banderas Bay
(Puerto Vallarta included).
La Cruz itself has its own selection of restaurants, from the streets
taco stand to the fancy restaurants with life music, all of them share a
distinct trade mark, the best flavors of the area, the best regional
seasoning, a homey taste and the freshest quality at very fair prices.
La Cruz is a favorite town that every weekend receives the visit of a
fair amount of people from other towns and from other countries all year
round.
